Impacting the Global Environment

Transforming the Global Environment takes an up-close look at how humans interact with the environment, addressing topics such as agriculture and livestock, transportation, rural to urban transition, industry, tourism, entertainment, and pets. Students will be guided systematically through human history from the Age of Exploration (~ 1450), through the early conservation era (1850-1950) and the birth of environmentalism (1960’s) to current environmental debates on issues such as alternative energy, to understand how use and control of natural resources have contributed to human development.
