Sport is a crucial aspect of American culture. Through sport-related readings and analyses of films and broadcasts, this hybrid course will provide students with a better understanding of how sport functions in our society. It will provide them with tools for analyzing the various media that present sport to us: novels and other literary forms, films, non-fiction, TV, and more. Students will also develop their writing skills.
The Culture of Sport is taught by sport enthusiast and English professor, Larry Scanlon.
