Unemployed Tuition Waiver Program
Eligible unemployed persons interested in attending Winter/Summer Session are required to meet with a representative of the Office of Summer and Winter Sessions on the Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday (December 21, 22, or 23) immediately preceding the beginning of the term in which the course is conducted. Registration on prior or subsequent dates will not be honored. Registration is on a space availability basis only.
Any eligible student who registers without securing approval from the Office of Summer and Winter Sessions will be denied enrollment under the Workforce Program. Such students will be held responsible for payment of all tuition and fees. Students ARE NOT ALLOWED to add OR change selections after initial registration; students may however drop courses in accordance with the posted deadlines (see Winter or Summer Session calendar).
Documentation Required to Satisfy Eligibility
Eligible unemployed individuals must present written documentation of their eligibility for the fee waiver program to Summer and Winter Session staff:
- Employability Development Plan, signed by their Division of Employment Services counselors with indicated courses and alternate courses based on career goal specific for Winter/Summer Session.
OR
- Original voucher with two original signatures dated no earlier than one month prior to receiving approval from the Winter/Summer Session Office. Copies will not be accepted.
Registration will be denied if the above documentation is not presented when meeting with a representative of Winter/Summer Session.
Each eligible individual seeking to enroll in credit courses in this tuition waiver program is responsible for filing a financial aid application and providing Rutgers University with all information necessary to determine possible financial aid eligibility.
